5 Beautiful Tuscany Wedding Venues to get married
Warm rays of setting sun, layers of overlapping hills disappearing in the distance, delicious whole-some food, stunning historic venues, it all makes Tuscany a dream wedding destination. Tuscany plays with our senses. It is romantic, genuine and joyous. As photographer, Isee the world a little differently. I'm a little more sensitive to the beauty in the world and I honestly believe that Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places to get married in the world.
In fact getting married in Tuscany is a dream of many couples and we can’t blame them. Breathtaking landscape, magic light, clean air and rich culinary culture take it to the top of the list of wedding locations. To back up words with numbers, statistics say that a swooping 50% of all destination weddings in Italy, are held right here in Tuscany. As wedding photographer in Tuscany I have the privilege not only to enjoy the Tuscan sun and landscape on regular basis, but I'm also lucky to work in some of the most stunning locations. In this post,
I would like to share 5 of the incredible wedding venues in Tuscany that stole my heart.
1. VILLA FONTANELLE
WHERE: Florence
PROS: outdoor terraces, magnificent view and beautiful apartment for bridal preparations.
2. VILLA MEDICEA LILIANO
WHERE: Florence
WHAT: breathtaking view, home of historic Medici family, plenty of greenery
Another pearl in Florence, Villa Medicea Liliano is a popular choice among couples and for all the right reasons. Just like Villa Fontanelle, it has Florence at its feet and astonishes with the view of this proud and important city. The villa has a beautiful terrace for aperitif and lovely surroundings for bride and groom photo session. In fact, the outdoors is the villa’s greatest asset. Apart from the terrace, it also has a spacious garden where ceremonies and dinners are held. Yet, also the interior of the villa shouldn’t be overlooked, as it’s home to stunning rooms with some historic frescos.
3. VILLA MONTEFIANO
WHERE: Florence
WHAT: sunset view, pretty semi-circular garden, large spaces
Villa Montefiano is a perfect choice for bigger weddings. With large spaces both outdoors and indoors, it’s able to host up to 200 people. Also this venue offers an unforgettable view, but this time it’s the Tuscan countryside with its vine yards and olive orchards. Outdoors wedding ceremonies are held in a semi-circular garden just above that view and if you plan your wedding at the right hour, you might say “I do” while the sun sets over the rolling hills. After the ceremony, aperitif and dinner are set up on a terrace right under the starry sky, adding even more magic to an already special venue.
4. BADIA A COLTIBUONO
WHERE: Chianti region
WHAT: church ceremony and reception venue at one, beautiful scenery, own production of wine
Badia a Coltibuono is a perfect choice for couples who plan Catholic church ceremony. Badia is a historic 11th century abbey turned into a wedding venue, which has it all – a small and atmospheric church, indoor and outdoor reception spaces and a roman garden. Walking into the church seems like going back to the Middle Ages, with it’s stone interior raw and misty. It’s also rather chilly, which makes it perfect for hot summer days. Right behind the church, hidden behind stone walls, is the reception venue with its stunning gardens. The abbey is located at the heart of Chianti and it produces delicious red wine which is served at its weddings.
5. CASTELLO DI MELETO
WHERE: Chianti region
WHAT: ceremony location with 360 view, historic castle, original theatre
Meleto Castle is a dream venue for modern romantics with taste and love of countryside. Towering on the top of the hill, the castle overlooks vine yards and olive trees stretching into infinity. Outdoor ceremonies are held up on a hill adjacent to the castle, so that bride, groom and their guests can admire the view of the castle and its surrounding countryside during the promise. The ceremony location is a few hundred meters away from the castle and it is a pleasant walk among old cypresses. There are two gardens surrounding the castle. One is dedicated to aperitif and the other to outdoor dinner. Both with stunning views are a perfect choice for warm evenings. Also the interior of the castle has plenty to offer. Unlike any other venues we’ve been to, there is a small theatre preserved in its original form. It gives a fantastic opportunity for creative bride and groom photos.
